In Focus – Greg Norman, The Great White Shark. Read our blog

Greg Norman is one of the most interesting contemporary golfers as a very successful yet tragic figure in major golf history. Norman was born in 1955 in Mount Isa, Queensland, Australia. Norman’s Father was an electrical engineer while his Mother, Toini, was a single figure handicapper who taught Greg the game beginning at the age of 15. Within 2 years, young Norman went from a 27 handicap to scratch golfer.

Norman’s indelible imprint on the game includes his tenacious golfing style which DaVinci Golf has proudly incorporated into our top of the line golf training devices. Norman’s blond hair and imposing size earned him the nickname, The Great White Shark. Norman’s accomplishments are many. He sat atop the World Golf Rankings as the Number 1 player for an impressive 331 straight weeks bridging the 1980s and 1990s. Norman had 91 total wins in international competition including 20 PGA wins and 2 majors – as The Open Champion in 1986 and 1993. Norman created great drama because of his runner-up placements in 8 other major tournaments most famously finishing 2nd in the 1996 Masters after taking a 6 shot lead into the final round before losing to Nick Faldo by 5 shots.

Today, Norman serves as CEO for Great White Shark Enterprises which is a leader in golf apparel, real estate, and course design including the design of Parkland Golf and Country Club in Broward County very near DaVinci’s corporate HQ.
